Furry Creek is named for Oliver Furry, a trapper turned prospector who discovered the immense mining potential of the area around 1893.

Furry Creek is a Master-Planned Community. The Official Community Plan (OCP) provides for this 1,036 acre site to become a community of up to 920 homes, with a population base of roughly 2,200.  This would see Furry Creek grow to approximately twice the size of Lions Bay by comparison.  A key feature of the development plan is to retain approximately half of the lands in a "natural state", allowing residents and visitors alike to enjoy this fabulous area overlooking Howe Sound and the Coastal Mountains.

The Furry Creek Community

At this time, Furry Creek consists of the Waterfront Community of Oliver's Landing, approximately 25 acres in size, with a mix of 56 two and three-storey Town Homes, some located on the waterfront literally steps to the beach, and the Furry Creek "Benchlands" area consisting of approximately 100 Custom-designed Single Family Detached homes.   

In May 2003 Award-winning ParkLane Homes, one of Western Canada's largest and most respected residential developers, acquired Tanac Land Development and with it the Furry Creek property.  ParkLane Homes and Tanac Land Development are now poised to write the next chapter of the Furry Creek story.
